Kambos-Aghios Georgios-Kambos
Approx time around 3 hours. The start of this route takes you out of Kambos as on walk two, or you can if you wish start at Stavropigio.
Take the old kalderimi from Kambos, you will find this located opposite the language school.

This will take you in the direction of the Koumoudros tower by the back of the village.
You will pass the Mycean tomb, the tower and the statue of Alexander koumoundros.

Kambos will now be behind you, cross the road and pick up the old kalderimi again. This will eventually reach a track that takes you into Stavropigio.

There are excellent views of Zarnarta castle from here.

Following the track into the village, you will pass several tower houses on your left follow this track through the village lanes eventually turning left down a short hill. There should now be a small footpath on your left follow this until you come to the end and are now in another part of the village. Take a right turn here and then a left. You have now come to the kalderimi that will take you out of the village.
When you reach the T junction at the end of the village take the road straight ahead, after half a km you have on your right a large factory building turn right into a small lane before you reach it.
This is an old kalderimi, much abused as you can see by its condition follow the kalderimi keeping it on your left, you now come to a meadow, cross the meadow using the kalderimi as your guide. You now come to a track, take the right. This is the route of the old kalderimi but nothing is left however we will pick it up again shortly.
The kalderimi reappears as you climb and on your left is a house which is currently being used as a monastery by some eco friendly monks.
At the top turn left and follow the road,at the junction take a left after a few hundred metres on the right you will see two tracks side by side, take the far one.
Follow this track for about a km, you should start to see some splendid views of Messinia bay.
At the end of the track turn left, we are now on the Kitries road for about 300 metres.
Take the left hand turn and start to climb, ignoring the track that takes a left further on.
On the route you will pass some interesting rock formations, ruined buildings and a farm with a very well kept horse.

It is only a 2/3 km climb but it is quite steep.
Having reached the top, as you face Kalamata, you now have breathtaking views of all of Avia and beyond and all of Kardamyli and beyond as you turn around. Behind the church are the views of the mountains. The views here are really outstanding, take a break here and take them in.

To leave Aghios Georgios we follow the kalderimi that is located at the back left (facing the door) hand side of the church. This is not on the map.
Follow this down, in parts it is very poor but you can still make it out. Just before the kalderimi ends it gets blocked up so leave it and cross the very small olive grove from where you can see the track you need. Follow this right and it will bring you back under where the kalderimi ended.
Follow this track and you will come to three cottages. One is a circular cottage no longer lived in as the owner who was German has died and no one knows of any of his relatives.

Approach the cottage and at the right hand side you will see the start of another kalderimi. Take this path.
Following this down, you will eventually come to the track that took you down to the Kitries road, take this left and retrace your steps back to the monastery, Stavropigio and Kambos.
Before setting off back to Kambos, take the time to have a beer at Bar Nikos in Stavropigio. A great place to stop and ponder the meaning of life. WWW.nicosbar.com
