 Kambos - Kardamyli

(approx 4 hours)

Take the old kalderimi from Kambos, you will find this located opposite the language school.

This will take you in the direction of the Koumoudros tower by the back of the village.

You will pass the Mycean tomb, the tower and the statue of Alexander koumoundros.

Kambos will now be behind you, cross the road and pick up the old kalderimi again. This will eventually reach a track that takes you into Stavropigio.

Following the track into the village, you will pass several tower houses on your left follow this track through the village lanes eventuall turning left down a short hill. There should now be a small footpath on your left follow this until you come to the end and are now in another part of the village. Take a right turn here and then a left. You have now come to the kalderimi that will take you out of the village.

You are now on a T junction turn left following the Kardamyli road. Take this road for approx 100 metres before turning off right, to your left is another kalderimi, follow this until you reach the road. On your left you should see the mavrikos tower.

Cross the road, the kalderimi has now become a track, follow this track down at various different stages the kalderimi will re-appear. It has been waymarked blue and yellow, use the kalderimi or stay on the track if you wish.

After two and a half kilometres you will see a kalderimi marked to your left and climibng a hill, take this path. The track to your continues on down to the coast at velonas should you wish to view this first (approx one hour down).

However if you keep on the kalderimi you will climb and eventually reach a modest church. This is an excellent point to stop for lunch or tea, from here there are excellent views of Kardamyli and beyond.

The kalderimi now moves in and out of the track as beforeuntil you eventualy reach an old bridge. Take the track to the right and this will bring you onto the coastal track to Kardamyli.

This might be the ideal time for a dip if you have brought your costume, if not carry on to Kardamyli where you can refresh yourself at the many kafenaion.
